Bio/Press/Reviews
“I like this a lot, and it gets better with every listen.” Steve Lamacq.
Aldershot quartet Our Lost Infantry have a penchant for long words and loud pop songs. Their disparate sound has seen them share stages with the likes of Frightened Rabbit, Tellison and Sky Larkin. Widely lauded by the alternative blogosphere, the band have recently self-released their new single and video, ‘I Love You, Sandra Billson’, which had over 1000 YouTube views in a week. They’ve also had airplay on BBC Radio 1, Radio 2, and 6Music and been championed by Steve Lamacq.
Their music has its roots in the bands they watched growing up, with elements of Reuben and Hundred Reasons, but has evolved to encompass many other layers and more melodic sensibilities.
Fresh from recently playing the BBC Introducing stage at T in the Park, the band are currently looking for gigs to fill their schedule until the end of the year, when they are looking to record an album.

“The Arsonist’ is infectious, bustling and effervescent throughout but explodes quite spectacularly during the brilliant chorus.”

‘Parkin’ (self-released single)
Music Fan’s Mic:
“The trick to listening to these guys is to expect the unexpected. Nothing is ever straightforward, and this kitchen-sink approach to songwriting has already marked them out as ones to watch.”

Electric Banana:
“Appears to have about 8 musical styles punching the hell out of each other for your attention.”

AAA Music:
“Fragmented riffs, a sporadic use of electronics, and some rough around the edges harmonies (not to mention a few surreal lyrics) all come together to create a sense of unease and emotional instability.”

“Our Lost Infantry‘s young, fiery, guitar-driven indie follows in the footsteps of the likes of We Were Promised Jetpacks.”

Essex Chronicle:
“the best thing to come out of Aldershot since the A325…”
Culture Deluxe:
“Their hybrid sound brought together the angry defiance of Hundred Reasons with some more intelligent musical structures [and] fine song craft.”

The Boileroom:
“…the Aldershot band love a good crescendo to finish each track. The songs were all anthemic and any of them could have been singles.”
The Dirty South:
“Taking what could be a fairly standard mix of indie music staples, they injected them with extra melody and imagination and a sprinkling of piano and synth, to produce something bright and upbeat that helped their set stick in the mind and is sure to help them stand out from the crowd. Definitely ones to watch.”
